Todays "love" list

I'm sitting here trying to look busy while the plumber is fixing the nasty stinky leak from our toilet. Its uncomfortable to know he is in there having to slosh around in all that grossness. I feel guilty and exposed somehow..not saying anything but sweet lavendar and roses scent ever comes from me...(I don't want to point fingers but I feel I have to in this case! :)

But weirdly enough..I started thinking about some of the things in my world that I love..(in no special order)

*My schitzofriends, Holly & Kelli
*Farm basket french fries
*Big Brother & the Amazing Race
*photographs
*salty buttered popcorn
*clean, crispy sheets
*belly laughs
*a clean car
*a great book on tape
*My Mia maids
*Pinochle (even though I"m really bad at it)
*a rainy day
*a great Sunday Afternoon nap

The list could really drag on forever....but the plumber is almost done! WooHoo!!

peace out

What a love story!

Who doesn't dig a great Love Story? I love this time of year. Hearts and flowers and declarations of love every where you go. I know it is just another Hallmark created holiday, but I do love it. It makes me think about the great love stories...

1. I love my husband. He is handsome, funny, smart and a little kooky (that is a compliment baby!). He makes me laugh and makes me feel safe. He is a GREAT dad and a worthy priesthood holder. We have shared 20+ years together and it never gets too boring. Your a stud honey!

2. Alec & Tiffany....ahhh young love is so fun! They have been married a short time but their love story has spanned continents, separations & sacrifice. Being around them rekindles the feelings I had two decades ago that have been buried under jobs, kids, dogs and more dogs (Ugh) and the daily requirements of life. Young love brings hope!

3. Jake & Amy...Hope brings strength. Jake & Amy have embarqed on one of the hardest trials of love. The part that lays foundations for a wonderful life if that is the path Heavenly Father wants for them. Jake loves Amy and so do I. She encouraged and pushed him to make decisions that were the right ones. She has been one of the most powerful influences in my sons life.

4. Gordon & Marorie Hinckley- What a wonderful reunion there must have been in Heaven. What a wonderful example of a classic love story. President Hinckley has been one of the most powerful influences in mine and my families life. The greatest messagfe to me personally was "to try to do better everyday" "try to be your very best each day". I think it would be amazing to see the celebration to see a phophet of God return to his Father...but I like to think he immediately scanned the hundred maybe thousands of faces for the face he loved the most....ahh what a love story!!

Ole' Mexico!

I'm living the good life today! Warm tropical sunshine over the beautiful Caribbean sea. My lovey and my brother/Sister-in-law just make it all the sweeter! Lots of sleep, sunshine, and super nummy authentic Mexican food and I am one very happy girl.

The doggies are tucked away at the kennel (hope they get ole Buddy potty trained while we are gone :)) Alec and Tiffany are busy with their new life in SLC. Alec is hard at work with his studies and Tiff making her way up the corporate ladder! We wish they were here with us! Next year!

Jakes letter was awesome this week. He had lots to say about the apostle he met and the wonderful wisdom he imparted. But mostly he was "stoked" and about the UNLV thumping of the BYU cats...

Tomorrow we are a little more abitious than today, we are lounging in a private area of the other pool and ordering foofoo drinks and doing a lot of giggling!

Happy '08...so far so great

One down....101 to go...

I love to read the young moms blogs. Every one of them relay stories and quotes of their genius, creative, gorgeous child. It makes me smile, not because I know that most those kids are probably just your everyday, average kids, but because that it exactly the way a mommy should feel about her babies.

Part of the reason it makes me smile is because for me it never went away. I didn't hate the terrible twos, I didn't have obnoxious 10 year olds. I loved my boys when they were awkward tweens and everyone knows how much I love my teenagers. Certainly time makes us forget their weaknesses and I am not saying their are perfect. In fact their imperfections and their constant drive to be better young men only strengthen my respect for these two fine young men! They are still the most amazing, creative, beautiful gifts that my Heavenly Father could have shared with me!

So with that said...this proud mommy is excited that Jake has survived his 1st week on his mission. His 1st letter was sweet and tender. He is losing himself in the service of his Heavenly Father....and as he loses himself he is gaining confidence, strength and determination! So go Jakie....your mommy loves you!

PS....I didn't love it

So I went to the much hyped-up (at least at dinner with family & friends last week) PS..I love you. I realized after the first letter from the dead husband that I had actually read this book a couple of years ago. The funny thing is... I was a little bored about 1/2 hour in the movie and I quit reading the book about the same place in the story. Maybe it was the weird funeral or the really weird things he asked her to do..i.e. get a disco ball and a funky outfit and then just lay around on the bed that seemed to dominate the whole beginning of the movie.

I have to say that I perked up a little when they went to Ireland...but that was just because I wondered where that B & B was and could I book it for myself this Spring. I didn't get the whole Hi my name is Holly and I am going to do some shots and then walk out of your performance and you are hooked on me and I on you forever.....

I really went into this movie very excited. I love a good romance and kooky actresses and actors. I really liked the brunette friend and I love Kathy Bates...but she was kinda angry and unlikeable until the very end.

BUT it made me think of my friend Abby, just the story subject, Abby is way cuter and loveable than the Holly character. Because I thought about Barry (Abbys husband) I was a little sentimental in the show...shes a valiant woman.

Since Carolyn loved it and I thought about Abby & Barry so much I disliked it a little less......Oh yeah....I forgot that I really like Hilary Swanks Clothes (the short time she kept each outfit on)Oh and I wish I had her hot Karate Kid legs.

So next week 27 Dresses with Izzy from Greys Anatomy.....I think it should be cute!

Peace out...

Happy 2008..Ours has been perfect so far!

2008..So far so great!!! What an amazing fireworks display on the strip to put '07 to bed and welcome 2008! Wow! It is really cool to live in Las Vegas.
We woke this morning to a beautiful, crisp January day. Blue skies and the sun was warm as I sat on my back porch to read and ponder....ooops that was a lie....i was waiting for the dogs to "peeper".
Our beloved Jakie was set apart by a loving President Schlauder as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. What wonderful experience it was. His father and his Grammy were also able to share wonderful words of wisdom with him and I felt lucky to even witness this great event!
Jakie is my gentle, kind, optomistic, wacky, joyful boy. My cup runneth over!
In a quote from the best Christmas gift Jake ever got me..
"I love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
forever and ever
my baby you'll be"
Fly Jakie Fly!!
