Is that your grandma?

Well.

Reality Check.

I love grandmas.  I do.

I am excited to be Gramma-Nae' someday.

Someday.

In the future.

When I am older.

And wiser.

Today, while driving past Derfelt  I saw my nephews son, Trey,  playing on the playground.
(yep-that would mean I'm a "great-Aunt" cool huh)

I stopped and rolled down my window to wave hello.

He and his friends all waved back.

It was fun.

I was happy to see him.

Until....

As I was driving away I heard this-

"Is that your Grandma?'

I Love Mondays!

Thunder.

Lightning.

Rain, glorious rain!

What a great way to start a week!

And then there is this darling face!! I think it's a good thing he is getting the whole hair-buzzing done whilst thousands of miles away from his mother and girlfriend! Ahhhh.. He is still insanely handsome in this mom's eyes!

What a legacy.

My Great-Great Grandmother Sarah Sturdevant Leavitt has a beautiful memorial in Santa Clara, Utah. She was an amazing woman. Reading and learning more about her has made me want to be better. Be stronger. Be more faithful. Be more selfless. Be more righteous.

"Sarah was a noble woman and a matriarch to more family than perhaps any other person in the LDS Church. She suffered and sacrificed all she had, that we, her posterity, could enjoy life as we do today."(www.leavittfamiles.org)

You Are Swimming

You are an interesting set of contradictions.

You are peaceful yet competitive. Graceful yet strong.

You exist in your own private universe.

I love the Olympics. But.......

I love almost everything about the Olympics. Channel 3 is on nearly every waking moment, on every TV in the house (except when Big Brother 10 & Project Runway are on) I've even stalked MSNBC, CNBC, USA and any other channel that shows Olympics XXIX in the guide.

But....yep, here is the but......what's with the Beach Volleyball. In 1996 I was fortunate enough to attend the Summer Olympics with Keith and the Boys. Clearly one of the most popular events was Beach Volleyball. We couldn't get tickets. They were being scalped for way more than we could afford. That's cool though. It was just the new "cool" sport on the block. That was 12 years ago. Wow we all wish we could be "cool" for that long!!

But....how much Primetime do they deserve. It's still just the preliminaries. I understand the temptation NBC must have had if they were scared the viewers might not tune in. "Show some of the girls running around in bikinis" was probably being passed around the NBC Olympic headquarters. But come on already. There has to be at least 50 sports being played (I'm guessing here...sorry pookie I did not look it up) Can't we please see at least 15 minutes of a few of them. I actually turned to MSNBC to watch fencing last night because I couldn't bear to watch one more Misty May & Kerry Something-Something match.

One of the greatest tennis players in history (Federer. Not from USA) was beat today by James Blake (Go USA!). HUGE upset! Venus and Serena were both beat today.

Where's the Tennis love NBC?

But as I complain...I must say, I have enjoyed nearly every minute of this coverage. I have learned so much abut China. I have been touched by the awesome stories of courage and dedication. I especially love Mary Carillo's pieces each evening.

Mabe I'm just a little jealous of those flat muscular tummy's on the big screen.

GO USA!!!

i get to spend a week with a few of my greatest blessings!

Wow, what a week. Body-surfin' SYTYCD competitions, food, La Jolla picnics, wienerschnitzel, pinochle, human elastics, Mexico, fruity pebble treats, good books and more love and laughs than we ever expect. >

We LOVE our beach week, lovingly called "Gram's Beach Party". She threw the 1st big family beach party about 16 years ago. It moved around a few times to Mission Beach, the Del Mar for several years and the Oceanside for the last 10 years.

We missed Rod's family so much. It was fun that Jordo got to come for the last few days. Too bad he missed out on hotdogs on the beach and Ruby's shakes. Ben and Lenzi were also able to join us for a few days. We missed their kids also.

It was fun to have Carolyn's brother, Andrew, and his family.

We especially missed Jake. But just one more beach trip before he returns to us. It was sweet to have the newlyweds there. Alec and Tiffany and Dixon and Shaylee are grown up married kids that we parents are still having to remember we can't boss around any more.  But they are already pretty seasoned beachers so they knew what to do.

We didn't venture out past the sand very often.  A trip to Ruby's on the Pier to celebrate Tiffany's  21st birthday.  The annual picnic in LaJolla which included Wade's 40something birthday.  The picnic is a weird little tradition that kinda kicks off the week.

I love spending hours with these people I love so much. I am excited to see the next generation begin their own families and traditions of their own.
Thank you Gram, Big Fam, my little fam and friends. This trip is one that is special. I am grateful to have spent it with you. I love each of you more than I can express and consider each of you a few of my favorite blessings.
