All wrapped up in Love

I finished up Alec and Tiffany's Christmas present last week and delivered it to them. Yes, it is March. But did you notice the part about "I finished" it. That doesn't happen all that often with my projects.

I love this particular project because I started it and made most of it under the watchful care of my mom. She "oohed" and "aahed" at all the appropriate times. She guided me through a few confusing parts in the instructions. But mostly she was a cheering section. I miss my mom. But when I look at that quilt I will always have the memory of her proud smile.

Every single stitch in this adorable creation was done with tender sweet thoughts of Alec & Tiffany. I love those two kids more than words can say. I just hoped that they would love it. I imagined them snuggling together on chili nights studying, watching TV, making out. (Come on now...I'm a romantic at heart) Maybe laying one or two (3 or 4 or 5) new little babies on a softened by wear quilt. Sitting on the grass watching toddlers play at the park. Oh you can see where all these thoughts took me.

I was also excited because it is the first all by myself quilt. Start to finish. My sister has been teaching me so much about this quilting stuff. She is amazing. I thought I would put some of her lessons to work. I'm excited about the outcome!

So what do you think?
I love it!

Merry Christmas Alec & Tiffany!

It is beautiful!!! I am sure that Alec and Tiffany will adore it and wrap up many wonderful memories using it...
It is so cool that your mom was a part of the making of it with her sweet smiles and support. She was the kind of woman, mom, and grandma that I want to be.

It's comfy. I've given up on our comforter upstairs and have resorted to our brand new comfy quilt. It's snuggly, it's good looking, it keeps me warm, and it is made with lots and lots of love! We LOVE it! Thank you so much, mom!

beautiful!! I love that it has so many memories already... maybe you need to make a little scrapbook about the quilt... start with the stories behind it and then leave pages for the future memories... someday I hope to be a quilter...

You meant, "Chilly Nights, not 'Chili Nights'" right? just working with you on grammar thing.

Your quilts are SO wonderful. I know that you have poured your heart into each stitch and each pattern. I love that you have learned this new skill and have become really good at it! Way to go!!!!
